i am currently rebelling.

From class, that is.
I've only been on campus for an hour and a half and I already needed a break.
Pathetic.
But I guess we all deserve breaks sometimes.  And, since I have yet to miss anything, here I am.  Sitting in the student learning center, eating a snack and bloggin' it up.
Today was the first day I did NOT want to make the drive to Athens, and it's still only August.
Boooooooo.

Nothing really important is going on.
However, I wanted to stop in and make this announcement {because obviously I bleed Red and Black}:
This afternoon I am picking up the tickets to all the away games I was awarded!
Saturday can't get here soon enough!
In celebration of the big game Saturday against Boise State {and really football season in general}, I bought myself this shirt yesterday:

The theme for Saturday is "Spread the Red," so of course Joe is not thrilled I bought a black shirt.
But come on...black is where it's at if you ask me.
If any of you are watching it on TV {and if I don't chicken out on the black due to Joe's dirty looks}, then I'll be easy to spot in the sea of Red.

LET'S GO DAWGS!

i'm feeling neglectful...

I am really neglecting the blog lately!
Sorry ladies!
I promise to start doing better, starting now!
Since we haven't chatted all week, here's a recap of what's been going on.
  • I'm getting used to the routine of driving to and from Athens twice a week.  So far so good.
  • I have gone on umpteen million nanny interviews, and I have another one tomorrow {did I mention that my other nanny position fell through? :( That's a story for another day}.
  • I tried out a new recipe {first one in awhile, I know!} and I will be sharing it with you soon!  Joe loves to have chicken for dinner, so I am learning all kinds of different ways to prepare it.
  • I finished reading The Help.  I recommend that everyone go out and buy it right now if you haven't read it!  It was great.  It really teaches a great lesson about tolerance, in my opinion.  And, speaking of The Help, Kayla set up a group discussion board for our book club!  So exciting!
  • Also, speaking of the book club, I got to choose the next book we read!  I have chosen The History of Love:

I chose this book because many of you bloggers seem to recommend it!  It sounds really great and I can't wait to start it!
  • I stayed after class yesterday to have dinner with Ashley and our friend, Jenny, and it was so fun!  Ashley and I ended up sitting there for over two hours just chatting and catching up, and she almost bribed me into spending the night.  I'll definitely be doing that soon!
  • Oh yeah, and the bridal shower last weekend was a success!  I made chicken salad croissants and chocolate mousse for the occasion.  Everything turned out beautiful though!  Here is a pic of myself and the other bridesmaids and my chocolate mousse!

Alright ladies, if you've made it this far with me through this "catch-up" blog, then you're champs!
Here are your Friday blanks, courtesy of The Little Things We Do!

1.   One of life's most simple pleasures is a glass of wine after a longgggg day.  We've all had those days that only a glass of wine and some good TV can fix.

2.  People who consistently slam on their breaks on highway 316 every morning make me want to punch someone.  Seriously.  In the face.

3.  I like reality TV because it's all just so interesting!  I can't help it.  Even if it's not technically "real," it's still equally as ridiculous and addicting.  If it's reality, I'll probably watch it.

4. Blunder is a funny word.  I don't know why I thought of that word first {haha}, but if you say it five times fast it barely sounds like a word anymore!

5.  If I had to choose one beauty product to use for the rest of eternity it would be mascara, hands down.  I feel like I'm basically a walking zombie if I have to go out in public without it.

6.  I'm happy that I have absolutely no plans this weekend.  It's kind of unbelievable actually.  Joe and I keep asking each other what our plans are because we both feel like we're forgetting something.  Hopefully we're not!

7.  I would never jump out of a plane.  I don't know how people do it!  I just KNOW I'd be one of those rare cases that has a faulty parachute!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
I will be back to share my new recipe during it sometime!
:)

friday!

Hey guys!
I have been super busy the last week!
For one, my dad came to visit for the weekend and we got the new bed built!  It looks great if I do say so myself.  Probably because of my impeccable taste.
Also, school started this week.
My final fall semester at UGA.
It's weird saying it because it's almost hard to believe.
The commute is not bad at all so far {except 316 is so boring and long to drive on}.
Hopefully this semester is easy!
Regardless, it will be the best semester because, duh, football season!!!!!
Right now I am anxiously awaiting my ticket assignments.
I can't WAIT to start going to games again!  Our first game this year is actually in the Georgia Dome against Boise State - Chick-fil-A Kick Off Game what's up!
It's going to be awesome.

Okay, enough about football for now!

Besides all that, nothing too exciting has happened!
Just trying to get in the routine of things here.
This weekend is July's first bridal shower, and I'm in charge of making all kinds of little treats for it.
So tonight, I'll be slaving away in the kitchen trying to whip up something delicious!
Hope you ladies have a great weekend!
Here are some blanks to send you off with!
:)

1.   My idea of pure perfection would be weather that strictly ranges between 70 and 85 degrees tops.  I am so over this 100 degree madness we've been enduring here in the South.

2.  Love, laughter, wine, chocolate, friendship...  makes the world go 'round.  I can't pick just one!

3.  If it weren't for  school I'd watch Grey's on Lifetime every afternoon.  Seriously.  I think I've seen all the seasons at least 6 times now.

4.  Bloggers are so friendly!  It always makes me feel good when I get an encouraging comment or a 'welcome' from a stranger!

5.  If I had a winning lottery ticket I'd buy you a car and fund all your bills for at least a year.  I know that's what I'd want someone to do for me...I am SO over bills!

6.  I'm glad it's Friday because today Joe and I have been dating for 32 months {yes, we still say happy anniversary every month} and it will be our first normal weekend since I moved in!  Dinner and drinks are in order!

7.  Something I'm excited about is the UGA/Boise game...and my birthday!  It's still a month and a half away {and I'm not exactly thrilled to be turning 24}, but birthdays are my favorite!!

apartment projects

As a new resident in what used to be only a boy's apartment, of course I'm working on changing some things.
For my first project, I have chosen the bedroom.
Not that our bedroom is bachelor pad-esque or anything...but still.
Since a lot of our furniture has been donated from our parents as hand-me-down stuff, I wanted to do something nice to contribute to this place and make it feel more like ours.
This weekend Joe will be in Vegas for a bachelor party {that hopefully doesn't end up like a bad rerun of The Hangover}, so my dad is coming into town on Friday to buy us all new bedroom stuff!
Well, not EVERYTHING.  Just a bed frame, duvet cover, sheets, pillows, and hopefully two night stands that I just found that match the bed I've chosen.
Joe, being the guy that he is, of course has no opinion over stuff like this because he just doesn't see how it matters, so I've been left in charge.
And, let me tell you, I've never been good at making decisions.
It stems from me trying to be a people pleaser.
So, since all Joe can say is "that looks fine" or "that will work," I'm coming to you guys for opinions!

This is the bed I'm thinking...

{photo via Ikea}

The bed alone seems like it will be fine.
But this is where it gets tricky for me.
What is a good color duvet cover that will be gender neutral?
I've been leaning towards brown...but I just can't decide!
Helppp.

Okay, enough of that!

Today, I'm going to walk around the mall for a bit and then do a little decoration shopping in the Perimeter area.
This week off is awesome so far.
Just what I needed.
I'll also be making another infamous chicken pot pie for dinner.

OH yeah, and before I forget, who watched Bachelor Pad last night?!
We thought three hours was going to be way too long for a premier, but it was actually so action packed that Joe stuck it out for the entire thing!  Jackpot!
If you haven't seen it and plan on watching, do not read any further because I'm about to say something that will definitely spoil the biggest shock of the show so far.

Why on earth did Jake give a rose to VIENNA?!?!?!
Of ALL people...I mean really?!
I really think that was a move that could ruin his chance of making it to the end, because clearly Vienna and Kasey are dead set on hating him no matter what he says or does.
It's a shame really.
I've had mixed feelings about Jake for awhile now, but yesterday's premier, if anything, at least did some damage control on his character.  I definitely think he's on his way to becoming a favorite for the season.
{if he stops making terrible choices when he's in charge, of course}

Hope you all are having a lovely Tuesday!
And, of course, any advice you guys have about decorating/where to shop would be greatly appreciated!

life in the ATL

Hello all!
I come bearing all sorts of great news!
First things first, the move is officially over and done with.  Finally.
I'm still in the process of unpacking {due to a weekend full of celebrating}, but it's all coming together and so far I love it!
Friday, Becca and her husband came by to welcome me to Atlanta, shortly followed by Michael and July, who just happened to bring champagne for a toast!
Needless to say, I have been welcomed with open arms and things here are going great!

Another piece of good news to share with you all is that I actually got a job yesterday!
Starting next Monday {tentatively} I will officially be a nanny for two kids that conveniently live about five minutes away from my new place!
Yesterday I went to meet the family and get a feel for what my responsibilities will be.  It really seems like it's going to be so much fun!  The kids are great {and are like mini-genuises considering when I walked in they were playing with an iPad like it was no big deal - yeah, they're 3 and 7 years old}.
I'm super excited though!  The whole job situation has been stressing me out on top of everything so I am really happy I don't have to worry anymore!

Thirdly, grades are due today and so far I kicked some major bootay this semester.
Like, possibly made the Dean's List.
Finally, all those horrible days when I wished I didn't sign up for 10 hours this summer actually feel like they were worth it!

And lastly - {not that this has anything to do with my real life, but I still consider it to be great news} - Bachelor Pad 2 begins TONIGHT!

I don't know about you guys, but reality TV is one of my big guilty pleasures.
Season 1 of Bachelor Pad was so entertaining {enough in fact that I even got Joe interested!}, I've been counting down to season 2.
Tonight I am making dinner and Michael and July are coming over for a viewing party!
So, all of you better watch too so we can discuss this week!

Happy Monday!
:)

fill in the blank!

Okay, I lied.
One more post before the move.
I woke up early to get a little studying in for my last final, but after about an hour I decided I can't do anymore!  If I don't know basic French now after three semesters, another hour won't help too much, right?
Right!
So, instead, fill in the blanks it is!

1.   My go to outfit for a dress-up occasion like a wedding is some kind of cute and comfy dress.  With all the eating/drinking/dancing that goes on at a wedding, I definitely like to be comfortable!

2.  This week has been sooooo busy!  Packing, finishing up my summer class/finals week, visiting/saying goodbye to my friends here in Athens...ahhh my head is about to explode.  I can't wait to have everything done and get a day to relax!

3.  When it's dinnertime and I'm feeling lazy I'll usually eat mac and cheese...or soup.  I've had mac and cheese for dinner four times in the last two weeks.  Don't hate.

4.  My favorite pair of shoes is any pair of flip flops or slip on ballerinas.  I've always been a flip flop kinda gal, but I'll settle for some ballerina flats when it's cold.  I just hate the feeling of wearing socks AND shoes.  One or the other is fine, but not together.  Weird, I know.

5.  A random item that I own that is completely unnecessary, but that I could never part with is the dried roses I have saved over the years.  On special occasions when Joe gets me flowers, I always save one and put it in a vase with the others, and I can still to this day tell you what occasion each flower was for.  I figure one day it might be cool to scrapbook them.  Hopefully the don't get destroyed in the move today!

6.  My favorite person is ...hmm.  This is a tough one.  I don't have just one!  My parents, my grandma, Joe, Kayla...those are probably the top 5.  I don't think I could rank them if I tried!

7.  If I were going to write my own blank it would say my favorite thing to do when I'm being extremely lazy is _____.  I'm always looking for relaxing ways to spend my lazy time so I'd be interested to know!

Happy Friday, friends!

8.04.2011

ONE. MORE. DAY.

Well, friends, it's finally here.
Tomorrow is the big day.
MOVING DAY!
I can't believe it really.  Today I'm feeling super nervous.
Probably because I have so much left to do {procrastination at it's finest}...but whatever.
I'm spending the last day at my apartment in the most appropriate way I can think of, which is laying in bed, watching reruns, and recovering from the one-too-many margaritas I had at dinner with my roommates last night.
I'll miss lazy days like this in my bed.
However, on the bright side, my dad is buying Joe and me a new bed frame and duvet cover!
So that means I'm on mission 'make our bedroom cozy' immediately after the move is over.
Exciting!!

Yesterday was the last day of all my summer classes.
I can't believe I survived!
I am officially one French final away from being a SENIOR!
This day felt like it would never come.  Seriously.
Tomorrow after my final and the move, a lot of celebrating will be happening for sure!!

Okay, enough about moving and school.

Today I'm also going to get my haircut, which I'm SO excited about.
I love the feeling of a fresh do!
I found this place downtown in Athens that I absolutely love called Rage.

I always go to this girl, Jenna, who is like some sort of hair magician.  She's the only person that's ever cut my hair exactly the way I like it.
The dilemma today is that she's completely booked, so I'm trying out a guy named Matt instead.
I'm super nervous!!!!
So, if you want to send out some virtual prayers for my hair, I'd appreciate it!

Hope everyone is enjoying their week!
The next time I talk to you guys, I'll be an Atlanta resident!

Oh, by the way, I forgot to share this funny picture I saw the other day via Twitter.

You know it's hot when people are baking cookies in their cars!!
