fill in the blank...sunday?

This weekend has been so busy, I didn't have time to do a fill in the blank!!  I will make up for it today though.  Since my dad lives in Alabama, I won't be seeing him for Father's Day, which is super sad.

{Love you, Dad!  You're the BEST, hands down!}

Instead, I will be doing all kinds of homework {and let's face it, probably going to the pool by myself because I also haven't been able to do that all weekend either}!

Before the fill in the blank, an exciting thing that happened this week: I found someone to sublease my apartment!  She met with us Thursday night for dinner and hung out for about two hours, then Friday she came and signed all the papers!  So, it's official.  I will be an Atlanta resident as of August 6th!

Hope you all are having a great day out there celebrating with your dads!
1.   The last movie I saw was The Hangover 2, in theaters.  At home though, Uptown Girls.  It just happened to be on MTV yesterday and we caught it at the very beginning, what luck!

2.  I want to sleep all day today.  I just can't seem to get moving.  It's only 12:30 and I've already managed to take an hour and a half nap.

3.  Surprises are my favorite!! They don't happen often enough, if you ask me!

4.  The best accessory is a headband.  I have been really into headbands for the last few years, but recently I bought about 10 new ones (including animal print and one that looks like it's made from little silver pearls) and they're so fun!

5.  My favorite warm drink is hazelnut coffee with pumpkin spice creamer.  Love in a cup.

6.  My favorite cold drink is Powerade.  Sweet tea.  Lemonade.  Frozen daquiris.  The list goes on, really.  Depends on my mood!

7.  Currently loving spending some alone time in the apartment that will soon be mine.  It's weird because it still doesn't feel like home, but it's getting there.  Also currently loving working on French homework, surprisingly.  This semester I have a new teacher and she's really great!  It's not as scary to speak in French out loud in this class, so I feel like I'm actually learning something!

kitchen obsession

I recently discovered Etsy...and I've never really been one to enjoy really vintage things...I've always liked the more clean, modern look.  Something about vintage looks cluttered to me.
HOWEVER,
they have some adorable kitchen stuff.  I can't stop looking!!
You will learn this about me soon enough I'm sure, but I have an obsession with the kitchen and everything that comes along with it.  Even when looking for a new apartment, my only stipulation was that it has to have a decent kitchen that I approve of.
Anyway, I wanted to share a few things with you that I've found today that I wouldn't mind some donations for haha.

Spice jars that double as magnets!  I just think this is such a creative idea.

The ribbon attached to this cake platter just makes it for me.  How cute would this be for a wedding/baby shower {or lets be honest...even just a lunch with the girls}?!

Of course, I had to throw a recipe box in there.  I chose about five of them, but I think so far this one is my favorite.

And lastly, these adorable towels!  They sort of remind me of how the recipe box looks...and they're just so bright and fun!

Sorry if shopping for the kitchen is boring to any of you haha.  I will try to keep posts like this to a minimum.  I just got so excited to be finding so many cute things I just had to share!

introducing...jhey jr.!

Hello everyone!
As promised, I'm back today with a normal post.  Unfortunately, I don't have a recipe to share with you this week since Joe and I were traveling and basically the only home-cooked thing we ate was a big breakfast I made the first day.  That didn't seem fun enough to post about though, so instead I would like to introduce everyone to a new addition to Joe and I's family!

He was named after Jason Heyward, since he's my favorite player {representing Henry County!!}, but we call him JHey Jr.  That's what his official Build-A-Bear birth certificate says.
I can't tell you how much fun we had making this little guy.  Call me crazy, but you're never too old to go into Build-A-Bear and create your own stuffed animal.  My favorite part is when you pick out a little heart to put inside of him and they make you dance around {jump up and down to give him a heart beat, spin around in circles for circulation, touch your nose with it so that he's not nosey, etc.}.  It was quite the adorable experience.

As for the rest of the weekend, it was fun!  My dad is doing great, and I even got to buy a new pair of heels.  FINALLY!  Now I just need something to dress up for...hmm...

On another note, I have been looking for someone to sublease my apartment, and I think I might have finally found someone normal *knock on wood*!!  We're going to meet up this week to talk about all the details and do the whole meet-and-greet thing, but if all goes well, my lease will be taken over and moving in with Joe will become REAL!
I sort of got emotional about it today.  For one, breaking the news to my dad was hard...I don't know why.  He's just my DAD you know?  I've always been a daddy's girl so it's weird telling him that things are actually getting serious with a boy {even though he was overall really supportive}.  He always gives the best advice, and in the end, he told me he could tell my mind was made up and that I need to stop stressing and just pull the trigger.
Secondly, I really am going to miss my apartment.  Last week, my roommates and I had a "roomie day," including pool time, drinks, cooking dinner, and playing Mario.  It's days like that that remind me how much things will change when I do move.  I'm going to miss days like that.
But regardless of all of that, here I am, pulling the trigger and setting up a meeting for a possible sub-leaser, and I am definitely getting excited/anxious as August gets closer!

That's about all that's going on for now though.  Class started last Friday, so for the rest of the week I will be studying and frantically trying to clean my room before Thursday.
Hope you all enjoy your week!!

Paris!

Hey everyone!! This weekend was fun and exhausting, so I will be back tomorrow with a normal post.  I just wanted to stop in and tell everyone to check this out!  I found this amazing trip that's being given away and, even though it's a long shot, I couldn't help but enter.
All of you should too!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
:)

fill in the blank friday!

I know this is weird...but I'm kind of sad this week is over.  This was the week that I had a break from class, so it was really nice to relax by the pool in the afternoons, have some drinks with the girls, and rejuvenate a little.  However, summer classes started today.  Vacation over.  :(

Speaking of vacations though, time for another fill in the blank friday!!

1. This weekend I'm going to Alabama to nurse my dad back to health because he had surgery this morning and am excited Joe is coming with me! Mini-roadtrip!
2. My last vacation was in May, right after finals.  We went to the beach for a few days and it was so nice to get away from all the stress here for awhile.

3. My next vacation will be probably to Hilton Head in September for July's bachelorette weekend!! {unless I can talk someone into taking me somewhere for a spontaneous weekend getaway...any takers? haha}
4. My favorite way to relax is to lay in my bed with a glass of wine and watch a movie, particularly something like The Wedding Date or You've Got Mail.  Girly movies like that always seem to help me decompress {and they're just a guilty pleasure of mine haha}.

5. When vacationing one should always enjoy where you are and take advantage of it!  Explore the city you're in and try new things!

6. When vacationing one should never stay in the room all day.  I will never understand how people can sit around their hotel and watch television on vacation.  You can do that at home!!

7. The best part about a vacation is how you can be completely selfish and self indulge while you're away!  It's nice to have some time to do what you enjoy and not have to worry about everyone else!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!! :)

busy busy...and a new recipe!

Hey guys!  These past few days have been so busy and I have so many blogs to catch up on!!  Things have been so crazy because:
1.  I spent the weekend celebrating July's engagement (which includes making a new girls' night tradition and meeting some fellow bloggers!);
2.  I found out the final for my Maymester had been moved (ended up making an A, woo!!);
3.  And, my friend, Kayla, came to visit!!
It was so nice having her here because it's not very often that I actually explore Athens, but while she was here we had a chance to walk around downtown, have some fun dinners, enjoy the pool, go to happy hour, and we even found a place that has delicious crepes!

The nutella/strawberry crepe was SO GOOD.  I would definitely recommend Pauley's Crepe Bar to anyone that visits Athens!

Also this weekend, I tried a new recipe!  While searching the Pioneer Woman website again, I found a delicious recipe for BBQ chicken pizza.  I was really in the mood for pizza this weekend, and since we had been so busy all weekend I thought this would be great for a quick and easy dinner!
For the actual recipe, check out this website.  Because I wanted it to be quick and easy, I cheated and bought pre-made dough.  However, on the website, there is a great recipe for homemade dough that I definitely want to try sometime!

Also, as an added bonus, Joe offered to take pictures of our pizza step by step!

Things you need:

1.  Pre-made dough
2.  2-3 pieces of chicken
3.  Barbeque sauce
4.  16 oz. mozzarella cheese
5.  Cilantro
6.  Olive oil, salt, pepper

Steps:

1.  Bake chicken on 375 for 20-30 minutes after covering with salt, pepper, and BBQ sauce.

2.  Roll out the dough, drizzle/spray with olive oil, and salt and pepper it.

3.  Spread a layer of your favorite BBQ sauce on the dough, as it will act in the place of marinara.

4.  Slice the mozzarella, and layer as much as desired on dough.

5.  When chicken is finished baking, dice into small cubes.

6.  Spread chicken on top of dough, sauce, and mozzarella.

7.  Bake in the oven per the instructions regarding the dough.  Usually it's a little longer if you are adding more toppings than just cheese.

8.  Chop some cilantro and add to the finished product!

Once again, if you decide to try this, feel free to tell me how it worked worked out!!
I hope you all had a great weekend!
:)

my first fill in the blank friday!

I've seen my friend July do this a few times, so I've decided to join in the fun!  Happy Friday everyone!!

{photo by Teri Lyn Fisher  photographer and blogger for Fish Food blog}

1.   I love  the weekends because my weeks are always so packed with school and work that it feels like I barely get any down time to enjoy!  And because Friday nights are always the night that Joe and I make drinks and watch movies, which is exactly what I want to do after a long week.

2.  A time that mama knew best was when she told me that if I'm unhappy in a relationship, I should end it.  I had this problem with the guy I dated before Joe because I hate hurting people's feelings, but when my mom told me this, I knew she was right.

3.  My first kiss went a little like this...awful. It happened at my parents house the summer after 7th grade...and it was awkward and gross.  haha lets just leave it at that.

4.  My celebrity crush is...it's so hard to choose!  I always have a celebrity flavor of the month.  I usually tend to go back to James Franco in the end though.  I don't know why...maybe  because he just seems like a really fun guy.  I think he'd be one of the more fun celebs to hang out with.

5.  My splurge of choice is clothes for sure!! When I do well on finals or have a hard week, I can't help but go buy myself a little something. It always makes me feel better!

6.  My biggest accomplishment is getting into UGA.  I grew up with my dad training me to be a dawg, and no one in my family has ever gone to school there, so getting in and being a part of the UGA culture has been something I am so proud of myself for doing!

7.  My dance jam of choice is anything by Cartel or Hanson!  They both have such happy and fun songs!  Who can resist a good MMMBop dance party?

in my opinion...

The best thing to do when it's almost unbearably hot outside
is to go home,
make some turkey burgers with your roommates,
and drink a big pina colada

and so that is what I will be doing for the rest of the evening.
Hope everyone is finding a way to stay cool out there!
